ASS

The ass has a reputation for being stubborn, you need to be stubborn to keep coming back. The truth is the ass has a strong sense of self preservation and, unlike the other beasts of burden, will decide if a situation is dangerous and not leave decision making up to the master.

 

The ass has been a beast of burden for many thousands of years, probably replacing the ox due to additional mobility of not needing to rest to chew the cud. Mobility is an advantage with herding folk.

The ass may have reached the zenith of possible fame when buried in the manor given to kings nearly 5000 years ago. The ass has a much prouder history than seaside donkey rides imply.

When not in captivity, the ass is a solitary beast found, mostly, in arid regions, thus spending the majority of each day foraging and eating. The ass establishes a range, in that range a dominant jack ass will assert breeding rights through a loud bray that can be heard for up to three kilometers.
